Cookbook Giveaway - Sweet Potato Love

Jackie Garvin's newest title Sweet Potato Love shares sixty recipes for this vibrant root vegetable.

Recipes for Lentil, Sweet Potato, and Chipotle Pepper Chili; Strawberry Sweet Potato Bread with Glaze; and Pulled Pork Tacos with Spicy Sweet Potato Slaw are examples of the creative dishes that fill this book.

The book is seasonally organized with lovely photographs and 'sweet tips' sprinkled throughout. Jackie's homey recipes and storytelling make this a fun book to read and cook from.

I like a baked (or, okay, microwaved) in-jacket sweet potato, which, after cutting open, I then top with spinach sauteed with lots of minced garlic and finish with a dollop of sour cream, salt, pepper, and freshly grated nutmeg: yum!

I love them every way, but my favorite is how they serve them in Japan: roasted over hot stones and served piping hot, the smell is incredible. I've been known to chase the yaki-imo truck across town to get my fix! Would love to win this, thanks to EYB for another great giveaway!

I love sweet potatoes every which way, except when they are over-sugared. They don't need sugar. As someone else just posted, they are good just plain roasted!

As a child I hated sweet potatoes, now they are on my plate at least once a week. I like baked sweet potato fries coated with cinnamon, cayenne pepper and fresh rosemary. I drizzle them with a bit of honey after they're baked!

I don't have much history cooking sweet potatoes since I never realized I could learn to like them (I generally don't like sweet vegetables, nor am I much of a fruit eater). However, I am learning that I can like sweet potatoes ... just need to be judicious about which recipes I try to cook. Last winter I started roasting sweet potato wedges with chili spicing and liked that well enough. Here is to personal growth - I can learn to love sweet potatoes, yes I can!
