As something of a purist when it comes to chips, it's been a little difficult looking down the snack aisle in the grocery store and seeing bag after bag of weirder and weirder flavors (chicken and waffle chips? ) But now it appears that even those flavors have become too dull and common. According to The Daily Meal, Pringles now has dessert flavors:
- Pecan Pie Pringles
- Mint Chocolate Pringles
- Cinnamon and Sugar Pringles
- Pumpkin Pie Pringles
No, no, no, and no.
(For those who may not understand the reference to "jumping the shark," there was a very popular television series in the 70's and 80's in the U.S. called Happy Days, about growing up in the MidWest in the 1950's. One character, originally a Jimmy Dean type rebel called Fonzie, eventually became the most popular character in the series, becoming much more conformist. After an episode which showed Fonzie - wearing a leather jacket and swim trunks - jumping a shark in water skis, the phrase "jumping a shark" came into general use, meaning when something that used to be good has gone downhill and requires a gimmick to stay interesting.)
